A Review of WWGOA

Description

At WWGOA, we work very hard to create great content for you to enjoy. But, unlike when George teaches in person, we don’t typically get face-to-face interaction. It’s wonderful to hear from an everyday user what they think about WWGOA, and how much they enjoy it.

Paul’s history with WWGOA

Paul has been watching WWGOA videos for over a year. He’s mostly interested in turning, but has watched a variety of WWGOA woodworking videos.

What he likes

Paul is a big fan of George’s teaching style, considering it personable and accessible, with simple explanations. George’s teaching, Paul says, makes him feel like he can do that too.

One of Paul’s favorite things…

Paul is very appreciative of the search window on the WWGOA home page. He likes to drop topics there to see just what info we have on that subject.

He also likes the additional personalities we’re bringing in, including Ethan Abramson, Jim Heavey, Jimmy DiResta, Char Miller-King, and Elisha Albretsen.

When I teach in person, which happens fairly often, there's interaction all the time. And you've got people sitting right there asking questions, talking about the woodworking that we're doing. When I teach digitally, not so much. So it's really nice when somebody like Paul is in the shop who's got a lot of background looking at WWGOA videos, and I'm gonna take advantage of this in order to get a little interaction from Paul. So when did you, when did you first start, I don't know, seeing WWGOA and watching stuff? Probably over a year ago. I just found you on the net. I was interested in wood turning and I guess back last, a year ago summer, I started looking and found you, and I ordered some DVDs, and I just watched them and watched them, kept order, and you kept sending me more deals, so I bought more and more. Don't say you kept sending 'cause there's a whole business aspect that I don't have anything to do with. But yeah, but I kept buying and kept buying and I kept watching and kept watching and then I, but then I really started getting interested in the turning and then I really emphasized on those. But, and then I've not, since I've told my, well I've told my brother about it and now he's got my DVDs, he's watching and he's become a member of WWGOA, as well. But I gotta stack this high of videos at home. So for people who are curious about it, like, so what do you, what do you like about it? And then what do you not like about it? Are there aspects of the videos that, besides me, that make you crazy or? It's really you. our teaching is so likable. You're so, you explain it simply and you understand it. Your teaching method is such that I can do that, and then if I don't do it right then I go back and watch, oh yeah, that's how I gotta do it. But you're so personable on screen and you seem, you're friendly in the live events. So are you finding out now that's not so true in person? No, but in the live events no question is dumb and you answer them all even if it's off-topic, you're doing a special project, if somebody brings up a question that's not related, you still answer it and you don't. I mean, it's just, I just love the way you teach. Well, I appreciate the feedback and I think I'm lucky that I wanted to be a shop teacher when I grew up. Yeah, right. So I went to college to get a tech ed degree in order to teach. So I'm lucky in doing what I do today that I, that teaching background helped me learn how to present information. And controlled disclosure was one of my teacher's favorite things is like, which is don't swamp people with information, just kind of parse it out a little bit at the time. So it's great to hear that's working and Dr. Peters would be very happy to learn that that teaching style is working. And is there anything on the, I don't know, on the website or the videos that you, I dunno, that rubs you the wrong way or you don't like, or you're not happy about or? No, not at all, not at all. I like it that you can put in whatever you're working on and, the search. The search window, yeah. And everything comes up and, and I like the different people you have coming in and their expertise in things. I was, I watched that all-day thing you had, I can't remember what it- Yeah, yeah, yeah, with Alicia and Ethan and Jim Heavey and myself. Yeah, yeah. That was very informative. I really liked that. And I asked some questions and I got answered, so that was, it was good. Good. Yeah. Well, thanks Paul, I love the feedback and like I was saying, I do a lot of this stuff blind, hoping that it's well received. So it's very, very nice to hear from somebody that it's working. I really enjoyed it. Good, thank you so much. Yep.
