If you are a CNC user, you are likely interested in how you can create vector drawings from objects that you want to cut the pattern on your CNC. It can be complicated to perform this step manually, so thankfully there’s an automated way to do this. Shaper Trace is an innovative tool that is provided by the same company the created the Shaper Origin. Shaper Trace allows you to:

Scan objects. Shaper Trace includes a registration frame and accompanying smartphone app that allows you to use your phone to capture an image of your object, and create a vector file that can be used with your CNC.

Export vector files. Once your image has captured, Shaper Trace allows you to find a center line which is useful for setting up the file for use with your CNC. Then, it allows you to export it to a vector file that can be emailed to your computer for further processing and preparation.

Import vector files for use on your CNC. Once the vector file arrives at your computer, it can be imported into VCarve Pro where you can apply the additional configuration and processing instructions to prepare it for final production on your CNC.

Run the job. After setting up the final output file in VCarve Pro, the file can be used by virtually any CNC, not just the Shaper Origin.
